Shirley K Patt

June 13, 1936 — January 2, 2021

Shirley Patt (nee Kozuch), 84 passed away peacefully on January 2nd. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Joseph, her children Debbie Guerin (Skip), Roberta, Joseph (Maria) and Kenny (Christy), eight grandchildren, M.J. (Mary), Megan, Mack (Alana), Jason (Katie), Alex, Jill (Mike), Kenny (Michelle), Danny (Ann Marie) and six great grandchildren Joey, Eddie, Mike, Mabel, Olivia, and Rosalie. Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanetta and Judy and her parents. Shirley lived her entire life in Chicago, growing up in the St. Stanislaus B&M Parish and attending Cardinal Stritch H.S. She married Joe in 1956 and moved into the St. James Parish in 1964. Shirley was actively involved in the St. James Mother’s Club and was a Troop leader with the Girl Scouts for over twenty years. Shirley was an avid Chicago sports fan with the Cubs being her first love. She always claimed that she was an original “Bleacher Bum” as her favorite spot at Wrigley Field was the old centerfield bleachers. She loved sunbathing in the backyard swimming pool, reading her Harlequin romance books, and working on her crafts. Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who always had dinner on the table and loved hosting family birthday and holiday parties. We will miss her sense of humor and wonderful smile.
Visitation and funeral will be private. The family will plan a celebration of Shirley’s life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or Lurie’s Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
