Chyenne Nicole Spears, 55, was born April 3, 1968 in Joliet, Illinois, to William Hassard Sr. and Lucille Hassard, nee Shoemaker. Chyenne passed away on March 10, 2024 at her home in Chicago, Illinois.
Chyenne enjoyed exploring new places, collecting rocks and flowers, and watching wrestling with her son. She enjoyed talking with her daughter and grandchildren weekly and helping out neighbors when she was able to. She was kind to most everyone she met. Chyenne was involved in work at WIN Recovery, a program providing support for women and LGBTQIA2S+ individuals reintegrating into the community post incarceration. She really loved working with the organization.
Chyenne is preceded in death by her mother Lucille Hassard. She leaves behind her children Shelly Hassard of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Tyler Hassard of Chicago, Illinois, along with grandchildren Khalil, Theodore, and Aubrey. She is survived by her father William Hassard Sr., brothers Bill Hassard Jr. (Debra), John Hassard, and James Hassard, sisters Tanya Stump (Chris) and Pam Roper (John), nieces and nephews Rachel Hassard, Jessica Taylor, Craig Hassard, Brittany Warnecke, Kara Sheldon, Jas Sheldon, Christopher Stump, Max Stump, Allie Taylor, Kaiden Taylor, Charleigh Hassard, and Willow Hassard. She also left behind a chosen family of neighbors and supportive friends who loved her immensely.
Following Chyenne’s wishes, she will be cremated and a memorial will be held at Fullerton Funeral Home in Chicago on Saturday, April 6 from 1-5pm. A second memorial will be held in the St. Louis area at a later date.
